what it's like to be in front of my camera

being in front of a camera doesn't have to feel awkward, complicated or overly staged. my goal is to make the experience comfortable and straightforward, whether we're photographing a planned portrait session or documenting an event as it unfolds.

I'll give you direction when you need it, but I also want you to relax be yourself and enjoy what's happening around you. the camera shouldn't be the focus of the experience — you should.

from the first conversation to the final gallery, I'll keep the process simple, communicate clearly and take care of the photography so you can focus on the moment.

FAQ

what types of photography do you offer?

I photograph a variety of subjects, including sports, events, portraits, milestones and other moments worth remembering. if you have something in mind that isn't listed on the site, reach out and let's talk about it.

where are you located?

I'm based in Mid-Michigan and photograph throughout the area. I'm also available for projects outside of the area depending on location and scope of the project. additional charges may apply.

how far in advance should I book?

it depends on the type of photography and the date you're interested in. popular dates fill quickly, so reaching out as early as possible is always a good idea. that said, it's never a bad idea to ask — even if your date is coming up soon.

I'm not comfortable in front of a camera. is that a problem?

absolutely not! you don't need to know how to pose or what to do. I'll give you direction when you need it and help make the experience feel natural and comfortable.

do you only do posed photographs?

no. posed photographs have their place, but some of my favorite images are the moments that happen naturally. my photojournalism background has taught me to watch for genuine reactions, interactions and moments that can't be staged.

how does the booking process work?

it starts with a conversation about what you're looking for. once we've hashed out the details and agreed on a plan, I'll prepare a contract for you to review and sign. from there, we can focus on the photography.

how many pictures will I receive?

I don't like to set a number, because I don't want to force images in an effort to to reach a number or cut a session short once I've reached the number. let's just enjoy the session and not worry about a number.

do you require a contract?

yes. a contract helps make sure we're both on the same page about the services being provided, expectations and delivery timeline.

how long does it take to receive my photos?

your contract will outline the expected delivery timeframe. once your photography is complete, I'll edit your images and deliver your gallery within that agreed-upon timeframe.

how will I receive my photos?

your finished images will be delivered through an online gallery where you can view and access your photographs.
